Rachel Velvikis - Horn

In-demand hornist Rachel Velvikis has a professional career spanning almost three decades. She was the core horn member of the acclaimed all-female brass group, Seraph Brass, from 2016-2024. Seraph performs all over the globe and tours extensively year-round. They won the 2019 Global Music Award, were winners of the American Prize in Chamber Music in 2020, and released their album, Asteria, via Summit Records. Their newest album is currently being edited and will be available soon.

Since 2022, Rachel has also been the horn player for Isthmus Brass, a touring brass and percussion group with jazz influences. Rachel also recently joined a new piano, trombone/euphonium, and horn group called Trio de Chats Noirs.

She is excited about educating the coming generations, with recent teaching engagements at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Indiana University. She was professor of horn at the University of Richmond from 2009-2020. She now teaches a private studio in the WI/IL area.

Orchestral experience includes acting principal horn with the Richmond Symphony from 2010-2011, and acting 2nd horn from 2008-2010, 3rd/Utility horn with the Williamsburg Symphony from 2008-2020, the Virginia Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Milwaukee Ballet, the LaCrosse Symphony in WI, the Artosphere Orchestra, and the Roanoke Symphony in VA. She performs for operas, ballets, chamber groups, and musicals all across the globe. Ms. Velvikis holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Mannes School of Music in Manhattan, where she studied with Mr. David Jolley.
